Johnston Straits is on the northern east side of Vancouver Island north of Campbell River.
Abundant wildlife including many Orcas or Killer Whales can be seen on a regular basis. These
family groups give boaters a spectacular site as they travel these plentiful waters in search of

Mt Washington sits high above the Comox Valley and affords amazing island views in all
directions. While the mountain is best known for its snow sports like Nordic and Alpine Skiing,
Snow Shoeing and Tobogganing, the variety of our seasons can also be enjoyed here year round.

Long Beach, on the western side of the island, is getting more and more popular as a
surfing destination. The beautiful sand beaches are part of the Pacific Rim on the West Coast.
Port Alberni, Tofino and Ucluelet are prime places to enjoy our rich coastal culture. Storm

The Giant Forests that make up a good portion of the island's interior are home to many
large mammal species including the Roosevelt Elk seen here. Large trees and lush undergrowth
make places around Parksville a favourite for hiking the trails. Parks and Protected Areas are

Nanaimo, with its waterfront and fishing history, is just one of the coastal communities
who's able to offer a unique experience. Visiting the many smaller towns that reside in
harbours around the island will reveal a new adventure. Wildlife and the landscape are second

Victoria, the province's capital and largest city on the island, is at the island's
southern end with a busy inner harbour. Attractions, the large museum, many art galleries and
outstanding shopping found in the downtown core have made it an international destination. It is
